This page was created because - sadly - a number of people over the last few years have "borrowed" DRT's advertising copy and other materials, including the entire text of this web site, to use for their own purposes. They changed wording slightly, and search & replaced with a different business name, but the intent was clear. This is not only unethical, but it leads to potential customers confusing DRT's marketing and services with another businesses' marketing and services.
I have no objection to links being created to pages on this site, and there are a number of instances where I have allowed sections of text to be posted elsewhere, providing that permission was given in advance, attribution to DRT was stated, and a link to DRT's website was also present with the posted material. If you have an interest in this situation, contact me directly by email at davidt@drtmastering.com before posting any material.
If you are responsible for marketing a mastering operation, you need to create marketing materials that reflect your own unique approach to this business. Marketing takes time and money to do right, and builds up valuable brand awareness over time. None of us in the mastering business - not you, not me - needs the aggravation of a lawsuit. If you feel that this is unreasonable or your (similar) marketing materials were put into public commercial use before DRT's were, please contact me and we can discuss it reasonably. I'll be happy to provide documentary support in the event a question about first use arises.
For the record, the following copy has been used extensively by DRT Mastering since 1994 for the purposes of marketing it's services, in print, in banner advertising on the Internet, and/or direct mail. Print outlets have included Billboard, Mix publications, EQ, Recording, Musician, Pro Sound News, Electronic Musician, Recording, Gig, Keyboard, Guitar Player, Film Sound, as well as local music trade outlets in New York, LA, Nashville, and secondary markets. Different lines of copy have been (and still are) rotated into use, depending on the time of year and the target market. (Different customers respond to different copy.) Note: Some of these are registered service marks. All have been used commercially in the context of mastering music for CD, cassette, DVD, vinyl and film release.
